Making Youth Sports Safer
We're in such a hurry to get our children into sports that we're skipping a step. We're not giving them the proper foundation. They're thrown into drills---or maybe even worse, right onto the playing field when their bodies aren't prepared to do the things that will be asked of them.
It's an injury-fest ready to happen. And, according to Children's Hospital, it is happening...as there are over 3 million youths get hurt playing sports.
The other half of the story is that the methods being used to "train" these kids are causing more harm than good. The startling statistic from the same Children's Hospital report is "Most organized sports-related injuries (60%) occur during practice.
