Sport Science Lab Star Wins Quad Cities Triathlon today...

Today, June 19th, Julia Juliusson participated in the Quad Cities Triathlon in Davenport, Iowa and won her age group with a time of 1Hr 16-Min.

By winning this USAT sanctioned Qualifier for Team USA for the World Sprint Championships in Budapest, Hungary, September 11-12th, Julia qualified easily to compete in that event.

The organizers also took Julia out of her age bracket and she was the 3rd fastest woman overall, being bested only by a 20-something and an early-30-something.

They ran and biked through the cornfields of Iowa Julia reported. She said that yesterday there was danger of the race being cancelled due to 'Big Bad Thunderstorms'. But, this morning the clouds parted and 715 competitors raced the required distances for this sprint triathlon...600-yard swim, 15-mile bike ride and a 5K run. It was a very fast race and Julia more than held her own.

The course was rolling hills and the conditions were hot & humid with a buffeting wind that challenged the racers.

Congratulations Julia. That Sport Science Lab (SSL) training...strengthening the feet, the hips, hamstrings & glutes while building speed of contraction really pays off on race day---out on the course! Julia also says thanks to SSL founder & master trainer Gavin MacMillan.

btw...Julia's goal is not just compete in the World's in Budapest...but to win it! And, we all believe that she will do exactly that!

Go Julia!!!

I agree with Brad. It would be nice to read about what makes Julia tick and how her SSL training makes her a better competitor.

Great Job Julia! I would love to hear or read a guest column by Julia detailing how she combines SSL and Tri training. Thanks!
