Football Speed Workout

There's a big difference between track speed and football speed. Track speed is your ability to run in a straight line. Football speed requires you to run in a straight line, but you also have to be able to run sideline to sideline, change directions and stop on a dime. While it's true that genetics play a large role in your ability to run, there are exercises you can so to increase your speed.

When you think of speed, what body part generates the most force? If you said your feet and ankles, then you are correct. If you can strengthen your feet and increase ankle flexibility then your speed can increase. One exercise that football players can do to increase their foot strength and ankle flexibility is called two legged jumps. Try this for two weeks and you should begin to notice that your ability to create force is greater. This will allow to generate more speed.
