Working Out on Multiple Planes

This may seem like an odd question, but why do we exercise? What's the purpose for working our muscles? The answer is obvious right, you want to improve your body's strength and efficiency. That being said, shouldn't your workout be as efficient as possible? Too many workout programs are designed to make you move linear. Sports and life are not linear, they are played on multiple planes. Since this is true then the workout you do should simulate this.

You increase the efficiency of your workout if you train your body to move in circles, diagonals and other angles. Your body creates a greater range of motion and you recruit more muscles, ligaments and tendons when you work your body on multiple planes. Once your body has been trained to work on multiple planes, you start to incorporate more of the right muscles during your activities. This leads to fewer injuries and helps to generate greater speed and power.
