Upright Row

The Upright Rows recruit all of the muscles in your back to provide an integrated upper body workout. It is excellent for nervous system training because it involves the proper alternation of muscular tension and relaxation in the phases of movement as well as high nervous system stimulation.

Procedure:

Start position should resemble a power position in sports.   Knees bent, feet shoulder width apart, back arched and chest out. Reinforce this position throughout the exercise set.  You will move your arms in a downward position to full extension then immediately reverse direction pulling elbows back as high as they will reach You will have three different hand positions: one is palms facing forward, then palms facing your hips and then palms facing away, inverted.

Tips:

Advanced Nervous System Component- move the arms in short, quick "fluttering" movements during the complete exercise motion. The purpose is to get the nervous system firing at its highest rate of speed. The short quick motion accomplishes that.
