Jump Squats instead of Squatting

I've recently watched videos of Gavin showing the effects of Squatting, and now I am going to stay away from this exercise. To replace it, would jump squats be a good one? It's a plyometric exercise. Also, what about hang cleans/power cleans? Are those all right?

Thanks much.

Re: Jump Squats instead of Squatting

Gavin has also spoken about squats causing groin injurys and pressurising the adductor and abdominal insertions causing fascial tears. I remember doing squats with my team when I was still playing hockey and feeling a burn in my lower abs whenever I had more weight on my shoulders, like anything over 250lb. What is the mechanism behind that though? Is it just that you overload the adductor/lower abdominal area when you squat low and try to maintain proper posture in your back and correct alingment in your closed kinetic chain? And doing that over and over with time the groin area starts to break down and tear...

Re: Jump Squats instead of Squatting

Thank you very much. And did Gavin say that himself?

I appreciate your response along with everybody elses.

Re: Jump Squats instead of Squatting

As long as the jump squats are controlled with good form and not done to low they are an excellent addition to your workout. There was recently an article written on here about the affects of power cleans/hang cleans so read it and let it digest.
