i took about a two week lay off due to work from my training and now my knee is bothering me well it started to after sprints anything i can do about this every time a curl it or extend it pops not out but makes a popping sound and it stings but doesn't hurt or like burn any ideas?

Re: knee
oh i'm not training right now i would never invoke something new like a guard if a part of my body is messed especially at the experimental phase where i am at right now on it I'm resting and laying off it and stretching it's coming along very nice and is popping much less and feels better and using this tape has really helped so I'll be fine I'm just developing my own guard right now
Re: knee
Josua,
I'm not sure what kind of guard your playing with, but I had success with a Z-guard for grappling and shooto when I hurt my knee. I would definitely have someone look at your knee. You could be causing much more damage by still training.
Re: knee
yeah i definitely agree with you funny thing is that's all I've been doing i'm actually coming up with a new guard i need dummies to test it on though lol
Re: knee
Taking time off is hard, but that's why I try to watch tape, of new or existing techniques for how to make it better.
I've also found that you can learn alot just by seeing other people roll during jiu jitsu. You learn their game, and what they like to play.
GrandMaster Helio Gracie learned by watching!
Re: knee
thanks i'm guessing i will have to take tie off that's going to be hard
Re: knee
hi Josua,
I too had injured my knee few weeks ago and I used Kinesio-taping to re-align. My knee was swollen (Bursitis of the knee), sharp pain during certain movements, so RICE for first 2 days then applied taping. Most important thing is to take time off otherwise it will take much longer to rehab.
The taping helped heal much faster than it would have taken naturally.
Here's a video of how it can be applied to the knee...

You can order the tape online, but their store is currently under construction so you would have to purchase it through their retailer.
Re: knee
yeah thanks!
Re: knee
It may need to be adjusted. Sometimes it is not the knee itself but either the ankle or hip/lower back. The pain just manifests in the knee. Sometimes it is even the other knee but because you compensate pain is on the opposite side of the actual problem. A sports chiropractor may be able to help. There is also a method called kineseo-tex taping that can help with the stabilization of the musculature over the next couple days once you have achieved proper alignment. The taping is done by some chiropractors and also physical therapists. It should take probably only 2-3 visits max to correct if alignment is indeed the problem.
Hope that helps!
