SSL is an excellent program for post-pregnancy recovery
Hi Gavin,
Maybe you remember me…I came out in early ’07 to see if you guys could help me with my rehab from a brain injury. You were wonderful to me and I came home and did my SSL workouts religiously while skating regularly too. Unfortunately the brain injury was more than I could reverse with all my might and efforts. Before the injury; skating was what I called my ‘stress management program’, it brought much joy and kept me in great shape. But afterwards; due to my large deficit in ability, it became more of a frustration which ironically caused me great stress. So I decided I would take a few months off, continue my workouts and then go back to see if there was an improvement due to time. About 2 weeks later I fell and injured my knee; apparently my ligaments were so strong that instead getting a tear they just pulled a piece of bone off. What does that say about my bones? It took about 6 months to recover from that injury – no surgery, just a brace and some rehab. The next month came the most incredible surprise…I learned I was pregnant, so skating was on hold once again. At my age and after my brain injury who would have thought I could become pregnant. Brody is as healthy as he can be and just beautiful.
Now this brings me to why I am writing to you. You may have already known this but...SSL is an excellent program for post-pregnancy recovery; at least the getting in shape part. Many women, including me, with my first two; are never able to get into their pre-pregnancy clothes due to hip and ribcage expansion. But I started thinking about the way SSL works the core and thought that it might help pull everything back to where it was and at the very least I would be working toward skating. So I embarked upon my workouts again. I am happy to say that at my age and after this pregnancy, I am back in my pre-pregnancy clothes again. I still have about 5 pounds to go but my jeans fit again (albeit snugly). It’s only been 4½ months so I will be keeping it up and will soon be better than ever.
I just felt compelled to share this with you—hope all is well with you.
