Football Training Zone
Football demands that an athlete have many diverse abilities. First and foremost they need speed. It doesn’t matter whether you are a receiver, running back, linebacker or lineman, speed is the most important asset you can have on the football field. Unfortunately the traditional system focuses on size and uses heavy conventional weightlifting to fulfill the need for body mass regardless of the negative effects on speed and potential for injury.
Speed kills! It is essential to focus on football speed workouts to achieve overall speed & quickness. What separates Ndamukong Suh, the All American defensive lineman from Nebraska is not his size but his foot and hand speed. Time and time again the players in college and the NFL that are the most successful possess the greatest speed regardless of size. Chris Johnson of the Titans, Larry Fitzgerald of the Cardinals, Troy Polamalu of the Steelers, Jared Allen of the Vikings all have the ability to accelerate and change direction better than everyone else. Do they have some size? Yes, but most players in the NFL have size. What separates these players is their speed.
There are many other abilities that a football player needs. They need agility, flexibility, all types of strength, vertical and broad jumping ability, pain and anaerobic discomfort tolerance, lateral movement, hand strength, and control of the arms and legs in different ranges and planes of movement. These are just a few of the things you need to be successful.

What you will find here is a comprehensive system to not only prepare you for the rigors of a football season but also maximize your athletic ability. If you want to have speed then you have to train with speed! Try out the free exercise at right, Crossover Flys-- (part of the football speed workouts you'll find in out members section). This is a great exercise which we feature in many of our premium workouts. It strengthens the chest muscles on different planes of motion with different dynamic motions, while challenging the core, arms and back. Do these as quick as you can, and you'll start to understand the difference between training with speed, or training to be slow, which is promoted by conventional weightlifting. If you don't have our dynamic bells, no problem, try two half filled water bottles—they will be good enough to get you started.
