At Sports Science Lab Gavin MacMillan builds athletes from the ground up. Beginning with bizarre and unconventional balance and footwork exercises his philosophy holds that like any other solid structure, the athlete too, must begin constructing himself from the ground up. In just one week my balance increased drastically and combined with speed and ballistic exercises for muscle elasticity - I noticed that in just a couple of weeks my strength and speed had also increased rapidly. The area of most noticeable change however, was in my flexibility. In swimming, flexibility and range of motion are everything and consequently while my shoulder and leg flexibility increased dramatically I saw paralleling results in the pool. Prior to working with Gavin my 200 backstroke had missed the national B standard by nearly two seconds, but with just 6 weeks at Sports Lab and the same swimming regimen I dropped nearly 3 seconds and was over a second under the standard. Coming out of Sports Science Lab I honestly felt like a different person in a different body, in and out of the water. The noticeable change in muscle responsiveness and speed gave me the confidence needed to get the results that I had worked so hard for but had never seen in the past.
